How to make Fairies - no glue!

We are in the process of getting things together for our fairy garden. It may be the middle of winter, but this is the time to start planning for those early spring activities!! This is our first year having a backyard of our own to plan and play in, so we are especially excited!

Here are some easy-to-make fairies for dramatic play in a fairy garden.

How to make your own fairies:

1. Gather materials. wooden beads with center holes, plastic beads--you could use any type of colorful beads here, Sharpie, scissors, multi-color yarn, fake flowers or leaves (I used a Hawaiian lei), and crafting wire.

Here are the materials (+ yarn) you will use for one fairy.

2. Wind the yarn back and forth in a zig-zag to make about 5-7 hoops. This will be the hair so the length and thickness are really up to you.

3. Wind the craft wire tightly around the middle (to make a 'part' in the hair). Finish off the wire by wrapping the end around itself.

4. Next, slip the bead, then the flower petal, and then the tube bead onto the wire.

5. Wrap the wire tightly around the tube bead and stick the end back into the tube.

6. Cut the loops of hair and unravel the yarn, cut some bangs if you want, and put on a face! You're done!

If you need a good way to eat asparagus, try this:

spread out asparagus on cookie sheet

sprinkle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, salt & pepper, and garlic powder/salt

Bake at 425 for 10 minutes
